[He'd dreamt about this night for weeks. If he wanted any chance of dating Milagro, Damian knew he had to get this absolutely, positively perfect. He took a deep breath, stepped forward, and quickly rang Jaime's doorbell. He knew Jaime was expecting him - of course Jaime would, Damian called ahead and promised him dinner - and it'd be slightly less awkward since they'd worked together in the past, but when it all boiled down to it, Day couldn't help mentally freaking out.

Here he was, in freaking Texas, about to ask Jaime permission to date Jaime's kid sister. Most guys would probably start dating without thinking of their girlfriends' families, but Damian didn't want to risk it. He'd already been on the wrong side of the Reyes' family wrath, and he really didn't want to be in that position again. Ever.
